Christian Art Gifts launched the imprint Christian Art Kids nearly 20 years ago to produce Bibles, journals, books, and gifts for children.  

One of the books that has been very successful for us is Dave Strehler’s The Bible Made Easy for Kids. Over the years, we’ve received many letters and comments from customers saying that the book was impactful, not just for kids, but for adults as well. We began to consider how we could create a Bible for children that incorporated new and existing content from Dave in a way that was winsome and accessible and engaging.  

We were convinced that the New Living Translation (NLT) was the perfect English translation for this Bible project. We invited Dave Strehler to write the study helps in the Bible and were introduced to Johann Strauss, a very talented illustrator from South Africa. Johann’s illustrations were so powerful and creative that we expanded the project to include many of the elements you see in the finished Bible today: illustrated book introductions, full-page story illustrations, colorful infographics, unique character profiles, maps, and more.  

The Discovery Bible project ended up being an international collaboration that spanned more than two years. We are grateful for the Lord’s guidance and for bringing people and resources together to complete this exciting project!
